The large sequencing cards show:

• even numerals from 2 to 100;
• Montessori-inspired place-value colours; and
• visual groups of two representing each quantity.

Children can arrange the cards from smallest to largest, reverse the sequence, or fill in numbers deliberately removed by the adult.

“Groups of Two” Matching Labels

Match expressions such as 6 groups of 2 with the corresponding numeral-and-bead card.

These labels help children connect skip counting with early multiplication language and recognise that:

• 2 is one group of 2;
• 10 is five groups of 2;
• 20 is ten groups of 2; and
• 100 is fifty groups of 2.

Buildable Skip-Counting Caterpillar

Children order the individual caterpillar sections to construct a chain from 2 to 100.

For beginning learners, use only the numbers to 20 or 30. Add more sections as confidence develops.

A Concrete-to-Abstract Learning Pathway

The resource can be used as a progressive sequence:

1. Build quantities with physical bead bars. Place one two-bar at a time and count the accumulating total.
2. Match quantities and numerals. Connect the concrete bead work with the illustrated cards.
3. Order the number sequence. Begin to 20, then gradually extend towards 100.
4. Match equal-groups language. Connect each total with the number of groups of two.
5. Complete missing-number work. Identify numbers that belong within the pattern.
6. Apply the sequence independently. Use puzzles, clip cards, sorting and worksheets.
7. Connect the pattern with multiplication. Notice how the sequence represents the two times table.
