Montessori Inspired Ordering Fractions Activities

Montessori Inspired Activity to order fractions with similar denominators or numerators. These are a good extension for children interested in exploring this concept further after they have explored the fraction circles by themselves

Set 1:

5 cards ordering from smallest to largest with a denominator of 1.

5 cards ordering from largest to smallest with a denominator of 1.

You will need pegs so students can show order (see example in thumbnails)

Set 2:

5 cards ordering from smallest to largest with differing numerators and denominators.

5 cards ordering from largest to smallest with different numerators and denominators.

Set 3: A combination of error analysis, problems with more than one answer and problem solving (knowledge of equivalences will be needed for some of these)
