Knowing the number of syllables in a word is helpful for students learning to read and spell. Every syllable has to have a vowel.
This is a sorting activity where students sort a word under the correct syllable number.
Simply print off 2 copies and you will have a self correction or write the answer on the back.
Students identify that some vowels do not sound ‘normal’ these are schwa or unstressed vowels. The schwa is represented by an upside down e. Some accents mean some schwa’s may not be a schwa.
Includes:
10 words for 1 syllable words
10 words for 2 syllable words
