Montessori Math Scope and Sequence

Golden Beads, Coloured Beads, Bead Chains, the Trinomial Cube... the Montessori maths curriculum is huge!

And there is so much information out there on the internet that it can sometimes be difficult to work out where everything actually fits.

Which lessons come first? Where do all those beautiful Montessori maths materials fit into the bigger picture? And what might children typically explore at different ages?

I've put together this free Montessori maths scope and sequence to help you see how the lessons and materials fit together.

I've organised it by cycle: 3–6, 6–9 and 9–12.

Of course, this is a guide only! For example, here in New Zealand, it is very common for children in 6–9 Montessori classrooms to still be working with quite a few materials and concepts from the 3–6 scope and sequence.

Follow the child. This is a guide, not a checklist!
