This Te Reo Māori Introduction to Fractions Pack helps children connect fraction names, symbols and quantities through visual, Montessori-inspired learning.

Make-Your-Own Hautau Booklet

Children colour one part of each divided shape and assemble the pages into a personal fraction booklet. This creates a useful visual reference while reinforcing the connection between each denominator and the number of equal parts.

Fraction Picture Sorting

Children sort realistic food images, groups of objects and fraction-circle models beneath the correct headings.

The activity covers a whole, halves, thirds and quarters, including examples such as two-thirds, two-quarters and three-quarters.

Mataono Hautau Dice Game

Students roll two dice, use the smaller number as the numerator and the larger number as the denominator, then find and cross off the matching Māori fraction name.

Both te reo Māori-only and symbol-supported game sheets are included.

Bilingual Fraction Word Wall

Display vocabulary including:

• taurunga – numerator;
