Help children move beyond simply recognising coins and begin confidently calculating their value.
Counting mixed coins can be surprisingly difficult for young learners. They must recognise each coin, remember its value, combine different denominations and connect the total with written money notation. These hands-on New Zealand money matching cards break that process into manageable steps.
Children calculate the value of each group of coins and match it to the correct amount from 10 cents to $1. The three differentiated sets provide a clear progression from counting groups of 10-cent coins to combining 10c, 20c and 50c coins.
What is included:

3 printable money-matching activities
-
Amounts from 10c to $1

Use the cards as a matching activity, maths centre, independent shelf work, small-group lesson or homeschool activity. For additional support, children can recreate each amount using real or play coins before matching the cards.
The cards can also be left uncut and used as worksheets. Children can draw lines between each group of coins and its matching value.
