Checkerboard Task Cards

These 42 task cards are designed for students who are being introduced to the Montessori Checkerboard. These math questions go into the millions units column so are numbers no larger than 9,999,999.

These task cards are in 3 sets, there are 14 questions in each set.

There are 2 task cards on each 'letter sized' page - an answer/self control is on the back. You will need to print back to back to get the self control on the page.

Set 1 - make the number

Set 2 – simple addition e.g. make 10 more than 324 567

Set 3 – place value type questions e.g. make the number that is 234 tens.

It is suggested they be used for students who are beginners of the checkerboard.

Laminate and keep in your maths area. Children can then individually complete the task cards.

Checkerboard Stories

These 10 number stories are great for adding context to big numbers in your montessori elementary math program. All numbers used in the story are Montessori color coded e.g. numbers in the units are written in green.

This activity works alongside introducing reading numbers on the checkerboard to your students.

They have been made with the holistic nature of the Montessori curriculum in mind.

Students need to see how numbers relate to the world they live. To help with this these stories have numbers spanning from units to millions.

These stories are also ideal for those students you can't get away from the maths area as stepping stones to introduce them to other curriculum areas!

How to Use

Laminate and keep in your maths area. These stories can be read to students, every time you get to a number the child can make the number on the checkerboard. Children can then individually do the story.

Multiplication questions: 2 and 3 digit multipliers

These four digit multiplication questions are montessori color coded and are perfect for the large bead frame, golden bead frame or checkerboard

All questions are dynamic (Exchanging) questions
