Estimating Amounts of Money
This is an estimation activity.
It is intended to help students round to the nearest dollar.
Students are given two/three amounts and estimate whether it is more or less than $5 (Set A) or more or less than $10 (Set B)
Students put the card under the correct heading card . This means there will be 2 columns of cards.
Answers are provided – it is recommend you print these onto the back of the question cards so students can independently check
The following is an example where students are asked whether an amount is more or less than $5
For example $1.80 + $3.80 is
$2 + $4
So the above amount is more than $5
